Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is a security measure that requires you to prove your identity in two or more different ways before accessing your systems or data. It’s like having multiple locks on your front door rather than just one key.

Instead of relying solely on a password (which can be stolen, guessed, or cracked), MFA adds extra layers of protection. Typically, this involves something you know (your password), something you have (your mobile phone or a security token), and sometimes something you are (your fingerprint or face).

For example, when you log into your work email, you might enter your password and then receive a code on your mobile phone that you must also enter. Even if a hacker steals your password, they can’t access your account without physical access to your phone.

For businesses in London and Surrey, implementing MFA is one of the most effective ways to prevent unauthorised access to your systems. It’s a core requirement for Cyber Essentials certification and is strongly recommended by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC). Most successful cyber attacks rely on compromised passwords, and MFA stops these attacks in their tracks.

GoodChoice IT helps businesses implement MFA across Microsoft 365, VPNs, cloud applications, and other critical systems. We make the process straightforward and train your team to use it properly, ensuring security without creating unnecessary friction for daily work.
